Workbench

Workbenches are extremely important with this type of woodworking. They allow you to secure work for planing. When using hand planes you're pushing the plane across the work surface so without a way to secure the piece it would be quite frustrating. The holes in a workbench are used for accessories called holdfasts, benchdogs, and planestops. These are all ways to make sure your piece does not move when working. With my limited space I opted for a portable bench top workbench. It may be small but this is the best use of the space I have.
